    Brakes 3 Swindon Supermarine 1

It was good to be back at the NWG after nearly 2 months and watch the Brakes give a good performance to take all 3 points against Swindon Supermarine.

Swindon took the lead early with an own goal remarkably similar to Stephen Wright's goal in the Cov-Portsmouth FA Cup replay a couple of weeks ago. After a number of weeks without action a number of our players seemed to take time to get into the tempo of the game. And our formation was a bit confusing; couldnt tell if we were playing 4-1-3-2 or with a diamond formation in the middle. Faulds seemed particularly unsupportive to Tuohy who was our only defence against Swindon coming down our right flank at will.

However, initial concerns soon were relieved when Bello did a cute lob to equalise 10 mins into the game, and Sanders leathered the ball into the net to make it 2-1 going into the second half.

Swindon had a couple of efforts flash by the post and Kiely was in good form - back to his old confident self which was good to see. He saved low when Swindon did break through early on but other than that we limited Swindon to shots outside the area. Lycett and Knight were a force in the centre with Sanders on the left.

Second half and we continued to press forward searching for the third. And it came when we sprung forward with Corbett, Bello and Husband with Husband's shot across the goal hitting the post and coming out to Corbett who slammed the ball home for us to seal the points. Other chances included Corbett doing a great turn before having his shot saved. Corbett and Bello looked sharp today.

A well-deserved 3 points and nice to be back at the NWG after our mid-season break.

I agree with report in terms of the first half (we should have been 3 or 4-1 up by the break), but I feel that it is a bit generous to us with regard to the second. We passed very poorly in the second half, then found it difficult to dispossess Swindon and I am sure that Swindon will feel very hard done by to have lost, notwithstanding the two good chances we had in the second half before we finally scored a third.

Nevertheless, three points is three points and hopefully a few cobwebs will have been blown away in time for two tough away games. Another positive, as Paul K says, was Keily's performance - proving his doubters (of which I am one) wrong.

thought we played well today, but there were periods of time when swindon were controlling and were on top in both halves. didnt see their goal to be fair as I was walking up to the north bank. they hit the bar and post a couple of times, as did we.

my man of the match was Kiely

Typical scrappy game after a long layoff but more than happy to take 3 points. Our midfield seemed to sit back and let them dominate at the start and in the second half. Back 4 played very well and for me it would be difficult to choose MOM between Lycee Knight and Kiely.

I thought that the defence still looked fragile at times, but it's good to get back in action with three points. Report at http://addickschampionshipdiary.blogspot.com

Happy to take 3 points after the long lay off. We looked good going forward but Swindon did cause us a lot of problems when they attacked.

Some cracking saves by Chris today, my MOM also.

Also up to 9 place with several games in hand on the immediate teams above. Good times

Agree with Yorkie. Thought we were poor in second half. Central midfield non-existent and unable to retain possession. No width on right which Swindon exploited. Even allowing for lay-off rustiness I will take some convincing that both Jacko and Faulds can play in same team. Hollers obviously from the ‘defence first’ school of thought as midfield sat too deep with large gap to front 2. Game crying out for early second half substitution to bolster the middle but once again reluctant to make change.
A welcome 3 pts and also agree that Kiely did well as did the defence.
Also thought the crowd was a bit rusty and subdued today............
